School Vision Board

Nettlehorst teachers describe the Vision Board

To build up their school culture, three teachers turned a bulletin board in the school’s main hallway into a vision board with contributions from students, staff and members of the school community. Roberto, John and Josh, three teachers at Nettlehorst Elementary School, saw the need to build a community of respect. After spending weeks understanding what was really needed from students, parents, teachers and administrators, they decided a public bulletin board that all members of the community could contribute to would help build understanding and respect. They asked students, teachers and community members to write their answer to the question, “what do you want to be known for?” on pieces of paper and then post the answers to the board.
